Beginners Bridge
If you have a background in bridge and would like to play with us, we are a casual group ranging from weak to strong, aggressive to conservative in playing bridge, and we play for the sheer love of the game. There is always someone willing to help you, without making you feel criticized or dumb. Our motto: Its only a game! If you would like to renew, refine, or share your skills and get to know some really fabulous residents, you will be eagerly welcomed. Free to all residents.

Technology Club
The CrossRidge Technology Club meets the third Wednesday of each month from 7:00-8:30 pm in the Celebration Room at the Pavilion. All our meetings are in presentation format with questions and answers at the end. Past presentations include such topics as protecting your PC, working with VISTA, digital music, digital cameras, buying and selling on eBay, using Word and Excel, the world of Google, etc.

Our participants run the gamut from beginner to expert so theres no pressure at all! You dont even need to take notes because all supporting documents on all topics covered at our meetings are also available online at http://www.crosswiredtech.net
The Crossridge Train Crew is an informal group of residents who are interested in trains. Some of our members model trains, all scales, and others just enjoy real trains. Currently, we meet in members homes. We talk trains and enjoy each others company. We also may run model trains if the host has a layout. We also will watch videos or DVDs of model trains, real trains, or old movies with trains as a part of the plot line. We also have plans to do some train watching along the old RF&P (CSX) line, visit the Bryan Park (CSX) maintenance facility, take some rides on nearby tourist trains, and host some train related movies for Crossridge residents at the pavilion.
Goin' CRuisin' Travel Club
The club was formed in 2005 to allow residents interested in domestic and foreign travel to meet, talk about trips planned and taken, and form groups interested in traveling to specific places around the world. We have over 150 current members who realize that group travel can make a trip more fun and less expensive. Members are encouraged to show pictures and videos of their trips, and from time to time representatives from various travel agencies and services are invited to present their offerings for our consideration. Meetings are held as appropriate, generally about every two months, and usually on Monday evenings. Dues are $5 per household, payable as necessary to cover printing and refreshment costs. In over five years, it has not been necessary to assess members more than their initial $5.
Our next meeting will be on Monday, August 23, 2010 at 7 PM in the Pavilion Ball Room. Eric White of Collette Vacations will be here to talk about their offerings.

Women's Club
The CrossRidge Women's Club is the largest club operating in CrossRidge with approximately 140 members. This is very much a non-traditional Women's Club, with an emphasis on social events, learning and having a good time together. The Club is open to all CrossRid ge women, including those who have contracted to buy a home in our community but have not yet moved in, giving them a head start in forming new and lasting friendships. The Club charges annual dues of $24, and offers a wide range of programs every month. All CrossRidge women are invited to attend a Program Meeting which is held on the first Wednesday of each month at the Pavilion, generally at 1:00 pm. This provides each one an opportunity to meet a number of the ladies and to join the Club if desired. To view the current calendar of Women's Club events, check their insert in the latest issue of the View newsletter.

Yoga
CrossRidge offers Hatha Yoga practice two days a week in the Celebration Room on Tuesday and Thursday mornings beginning at 8:30 sharp. Yoga is a gentle art, which when practiced on a regular basis, will improve your strength, posture, flexibility, balance and wellbeing.
There are two levels of class and all of our sessions are taken from videos. Class members attend as often as their schedules permit and here is no fee for the video-assisted practices.
The Gentle/Beginning level yoga begins at 8:30 am. This first half-hour session is structured to improve balance, flexibility and strength to your legs. The 30-minute video was designed by a local instructor for a grant study and if practiced on a regular basis, will improve your strength and balance. Leg strength equates to more independence! This short session is followed at 9 am by a second hour-long practice from a variety of instructional videos. This practice usually features traditional standing poses, as well as floor positions, flow sequences, and more balance work. These two sessions (8:30 to 10:00) flow one into the other and end with a relaxation period.
Gentle Chair Yoga follows at 10 am. This one-hour class is for those who do not wish to be on the floor. All work is done seated from a chair. It also provides strengthening, balance and flexibility work and the selection of exercises changes each practice.
Instructed Yoga Practice
In addition to the instructional videos we have arranged to have an instructed practice once each month from local Yoga teachers who visit the Gentle/Beginning class. Guided instruction helps fine tune poses and expands our knowledge of the Practice of Yoga. These classes do incur a fee. Dates are different each month. You do not need to be a regular member of the class to attend, but advance sign-up is required.
If you have an interest in Yoga, please come by. We welcome newcomers, and yes, we do have men occasionally. We have everything you might need (mats, blocks, and straps) so you need not purchase anything to visit/begin a practice. Dress comfortably, and eat sparingly beforehand.
